In the 1920's and 1930's, George Eyston raced at Brooklands, entered Formula One (3rd in the French Grand Prix), raced MGs in the Mille Miglia and broke the Land Speed Record in Thunderbolt that was built in the old KLG factory at Kingston Vale. In November 1939 George became not only the Land Speed Record holder, but the first man to attain 300 mph.
In the 1980's Mole Valley was formed by Charles Eyston and James Tilling, and dealt exclusively in low mileage sports cars, such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, and even Panthers. Mole Valley was always an interesting place, and Grand Prix racers from the 1950's and 1960's who James used to know from his time with the Jaguar Race Team and comentating at Le Mans used to drop in for lunch - Innes Ireland, George Abecassis, Mike Salmon and Jack Fairman were regular visitors.
James Tilling retired in 1987, with Peter van Heyningen (a car enthusiast) buying his shares. In 1991 Charles Eyston saw the new TVR Griffith at the Birmingham Motor Show. It was this car that made him become a TVR Dealer. In 1992 Mole Valley became an official TVR Main Dealer.
From that day we not only became TVR Dealers, but enthusiasts for these individualistic British sports cars. Mole Valley came to TVR with twenty years experience in selling sports and prestige cars, and in that time had come to recognise that looking after the customer had to be of paramount importance to any professional Garage.
Charles Eyston felt further that his own personal philosophy that customers should always be treated in the same manner that he would expect if he was purchasing a car, could be particularly applied to the TVR franchise and laterly our Noble and Morgan business, so continuing the principle of "nice cars to nice people" and always with courtesy and hopefully some humour!
Our service technicians are TVR, and now Noble and Morgan enthusiasts, who take a pride in the work that you entrust them with. Their daily tasks can be anything from a 6,000 miles service, locating and rectifying water ingress using our perimeter equipment, or tuning your Cerbera with a lap top computer.
It is this "service" that has become paramount at Mole Valley, and the feeling that when a customer first purchases either his new car or a low mileage used example the "sale has only just begun". We still retain all our original technicians, who between them have a wealth of experience.
In 1996 the efforts of both the Sales and Service department were rewarded by being the only TVR Dealer recommended in the Daily Telegraph's survey of independent garages.
Also In 1996 Mole Valley launched themselves into the Tuscan Challenge with their own luminescent green Tuscan, and literally launched it at their second race at Oulton Park, when it decided to take off at Island Bend. From then on in our first season we worked up to a regular top six runner and the highest placed new dealer team in the exciting series.
In 1997 we teamed up with Rollcentre Racing (Martin Short) for what turned out to be a very successful partnership. That year we secured third place in the Championship with Martin behind the Factory Team and Streber Motorsport.
1998 - We won the Tuscan Championship, and came third with our other Tuscan. A fair achievement for a Dealer Team, in a very competitive field of some 40 entrants!
2000 - We built and entered a Cerbera GTO in the British GT Championship and won the prestigious Spa Franconchamps race. In 2001 and 2002, we moved to the the new Tuscan R, winning many races, and very nearly winning the Championship in 2002.
2001 - We took on the NOBLE franchise, and became very quickly their best selling Dealer.
2003 - We were appointed MORGAN Dealers for Surrey and Sussex. We hope to be able to be as successful with the Morgan marque, as we have been with TVR and Noble. Also in 2003 we WON the British GT Championship.
2004 - We elected not to sell New TVRs anymore, but continue with our succesful Used TVR business.
We built a Noble GTO 3R to race in the British GT Cup series (that came second in its second race).
2005 - We carried on selling low mileage Noble,TVRs, and Morgans, but also went back into our original area of expertise, the odd exceptional Ferrari or Aston Martin, and good value sports cars, such as Nissan 350Z, Mazda RX8, and Honda S2000, etc.
We supported Martin Short's Dallara at Le Mans, where it briefly lead the race !
2006 and 2007 - We continued with our formula of sourcing exceptional, low mileage, and interesting Sports Cars and Coupes, that are just that 'bit different'.
September 2007 - We were pleased to move our Sales and Service Department to our new garage on the A24 South of Dorking. It has been specially designed so that 95% of our cars are inside, under cover.
2008 - John Colletti joined the Sales Team. He previously worked for Porsche West London and Audi.
2009 - We welcomed John Heywood back (who had worked with us at Chessington). John is helping in the Service side of our business, and will be our Morgan New Car Specialist.
Nov 2010 - Chris Chadwick and John Heywood took over Peter van Heyningen's shares. To mark this change, we have re-branded as Mole Valley Specialist Cars. John Colletti has also launched Auto-Strada, selling good value 4-door cars at Mole Valley.
If you are looking for a new or low mileage MORGAN, or a low mileage NOBLE or TVR, or any specialist car, why not come and experience that extra bit of care and expertise. We may then be able to show you that we sell the very best.
